Eviction: The physical, financial and mental health consequences of losing your home

From the Harvard Kennedy School, An excellent review of recent articles showing the effects of eviction on physical and mental health, in addition to financial health. Even the threat of eviction (which landlords will enact serially to avoid the expensive eviction process) can exacerbate conditions like hypertension and alcoholism. In addition, babies born to evicted mothers in Georgia were found to have lower birth weight than those born to women who were not evicted, especially if the women were evicted during the second and third trimester, when most of the unborn baby’s weight gain occurs. The threat of eviction affects our health at all ages, so help us stop them!
